課程概述

This course provides students with the scope of appreciating and applying the Peircean style of inquiry in our times. It focuses on exploring the usefulness of Peircean concepts and theses concerning how we may boost our capacity of reading, interpreting and reinventing our objects of inquiry. As opposed to rigid concepts of ethics and rationality, this course argues for the merits of revising laws and principles in managing the lucidity and intelligibility of our own work. Such an attitude of working enables us not only to devise logical and convincing interpretations of certain objects, but also to prompt new sensations and understandings of them in the community.

課程目標
This course guides students to reflect on the following issues: (1) how we can improve approaches to studying art, nature and culture; (2) how we can apply semiotic thinking while working out tasks of all kinds.
課程要求
Students are required to (1) preview contents for each week; (2) participate rigorously in discussions; (3) keep reading journals; (4) lead peer discussions of certain topics.
